Soyuz capsule on landing zone
ESA astronaut Frank De Winne safely back on Earth
 
1 December 2009   ESA PR 30-2009. The Soyuz TMA-15 reentry module landed safely in Kazakhstan at 13.15 local time (08.15 CET), bringing ESA astronaut Frank De Winne, Russian cosmonaut Roman Romanenko and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Robert Thirsk back to Earth.
SMOS and Proba-2 liftoff
Two new ESA satellites successfully lofted into orbit
 
2 November 2009   ESA PR 28-2009. The second satellite in ESA’s Earth Explorer series – the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission – and the second demonstration satellite under ESA’s Project for Onboard Autonomy (Proba-2) were launched into orbit last night from northern Russia.
